I came across this article today which claims that Ted Breaux has developed an absinthe recipe that had been “passed Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau.”
Here’s the link:
Absinthe - the aphrodisiac - the American Dream
I find this article downright confusing. The title makes a typical outrageous and false claim (“Absinthe – The aphrodisiac”) but then follows it up with more confusing claims. Why would Mr. Breaux submit a recipe to the ATF? I’d image such a situation would be handled by the FDA and NOT the ATF. The ATF would be certainly concerned with making sure that the product was taxed and that Uncle Sam got his take, but the recipe? I think not. That is the realm for the Food and Drug Administration.

It remains to be seen if Lucid will actually be real absinthe and not an Absente clone. I hope Ted has pulled a rabbit out of his hat though. I’m a big fan of his Jade line of absinthes and venture a guess that anything he undertakings will share high quality standards.
