Mansinthe. Gimmick or Good Thing?

Absinthe Distribution of Switzerland has announced a partnership with Marilyn Manson to develop a line of absinthe cleverly named Mansinthe. This absinthe will be based on Absinthe Distribution’s Prototype 35 and will be a verte or green naturally coloured absinthe.

Marilyn Manson is a long renowned fan absinthe and a spokesperson his record company once said of Manson, “he likes to drink half a bottle before going on stage to get in the mood for a performance.' Some of Manson’s stage performances and artwork has also been influenced by the Green Fairy. Manson once had his former girlfriend Dita Von Teese perform on a striptease on stage in a giant absinthe glass filled with absinthe and complete with a foam sugar cube.

All gimmicks aside, this should be a pretty good absinthe and anything that promotes good absinthe to a wider audience is alright my book. It’s better to have the Goth crowd drinking real absinthe rather than some Czech or oil-mix swill - 'cause once someone drinks the good stuff, there’s no going back to the wormwood-hyped crap.
