Marteau Verte Classique: The next absinthe available in the USA?
Lucid has opened the door and others were sure to follow. Turns out that the next absinthe that will be available in the USA is Marteau Verte Classique. Its release is supposedly imminent. From what I’ve read, it’s a Swiss verte for the highest order.
Here are some the facts gleaned from researching Marteau Verte Classique on the web:
1. Marteau Verte Classique is being distilled in Switzerland by the Matter-Luginbühl distillery by Oliver Matter, the award-winning distiller of the Duplais line of absinthes as well as Marilyn Mason’s Mansinthe, Giger’s Brevans and the Brut d’alambic.
2. This line of absinthe could someday be distilled in America. Exciting news!
3. Starting probably in early October, Marteau Verte Classique will be available exclusively from Markus Lion at absinthe-distribution.com, distributing from Germany; it might be picked up by other vendors later.
4. The man behind this absinthe is Hiram from the Wormwood Society. I consider him the god father of absinthe in America. Given he is behind this product should both excite absinthe lovers in America and lend confidence to the finished product. The product will no doubt be top notch.
I’ll be ordering a bottle as it is release and I’m looking forward with great excitement as America’s absinthe landscape expands.
