La Distillerie de l'Absintherie Bourbonnaise de Vichy impresses with their first offerings.
It’s not often an absinthe distillery launches and has a product as good as La Distillerie de l'Absintherie Bourbonnaise de Vichy has right out of the gate. A glass of their Boggy Absinthe 1857 is proof of that. A bottle was sent for sampling and the results are impressive. It is clear this absinthe attempts to recreate a pre-ban style absinthe and the mark is hit dead center. The coloring is bold and not shy with the coloration herbs providing a strong and rich color forming the perfect dead leaf. The louche is right were it needs to be. The aroma has an inviting bite of candied anise followed by a chorus of alpine herbs. The scent foreshadows a powerfully bitter experience ahead that never arrives. What does arrive is a sweetness balanced and ever so slight bitterness. Boggy Absinthe 1857 is bold and very enjoyable masculine absinthe.
Bravo to La Distillerie de l'Absintherie Bourbonnaise de Vichy. The price point and quality of their products will no doubt make a splash in the market.
