Absinthe Is Now Available In Boston!

Absinthe is a spirit formed by the essence of three primary ingredients, green anise, florence fennel, and grand wormwood. Among other various mountain herbs, some other key herbs called for in many recipes for absinthe to add color and flavor are star anise, lemon balm, hyssop, and petite wormwood. The ingredients are dried in preparation for the maceration, or soaking in spirit to form an aromatic sweet mix of dry herbs.

Thank you Lucid absinthe!  Lucid has challenged the status quo in regards to the FDA’s ban on products containing thujone.  While the ban stands, the margin of error has changed.  Products, including absinthe, are now allowed to contain up to 10mg of thujone.  Lucid absinthe meets this regulation and is starting to be sold in America.

The launch of Lucid absinthe in the USA is earth shattering news for absintheurs this side of the Atlantic. For the first time since 1912, real absinthe is available on the legal US market. This day has been a long time coming and could not have taken place without the hard work and dedication of the modern “father” of absinthe; T.A. Breaux.

I came across this article today which claims that Ted Breaux has developed an absinthe recipe that had been “passed Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau.”
